From Quote to Revenue: Revenue Recognition in Salesforce

Webinar Recap: How Omnidocs Connected Quote-to-Cash and Revenue Recognition in Salesforce

This webinar explores why revenue recognition breaks down when it lives outside the CRM, how a Salesforce-native approach keeps revenue schedules in sync with contract changes, and what one CFO learned bringing revenue recognition into Salesforce after a period of rapid acquisition.

What This Session Covers:

In this conversation, RightRev Chief Strategy Officer Jenn Newcomb Meehan joins Alexander Blomberg Drejøe, Senior Manager and Revenue Management Practice Lead, and Oliver White, Manager, of Salesforce partner Dynacap, along with Jakob Bjersing, CFO of Omnidocs, to discuss how finance teams connect commercial execution to ASC 606 and IFRS 15 compliant revenue recognition. The discussion stays grounded in a live implementation, Omnidocs’ Project Beacon, and what it took to get there.

A central theme is the source of truth. Omnidocs quoted in one system, managed contracts in another, and recognized revenue manually in Excel, with double entry required in parts of the process. Jakob explains why his team chose to start revenue data where the commercial relationship begins, in the CRM, so that contract changes flow downstream into revenue schedules and the ERP without re-keying.

Another focus is the contract register. For SaaS companies, MRR by client and product drives retention and growth metrics. When Salesforce holds accurate commercial data, the contract register can be derived directly from it, including adjustments that never trigger a new invoice.

The session also includes a short RightRev demo showing how order activation in Salesforce automatically creates a revenue contract, applies preconfigured revenue policies and SSP allocation, and generates journal entries that post to the ERP.

Why This Topic Is Showing Up More Often

Pricing is getting more complex. Many companies now sell AI offerings, usage and consumption models, and personalized contracts alongside traditional subscriptions and bundled services, often inside the same revenue contract. Each new SKU adds work for the revenue team at the very end of the process.

When finance lacks systems that can keep up, new offerings stall or ship with manual workarounds behind them. The result shows up at close, in spreadsheets and reconciliations, and at audit or due diligence, where revenue is the most scrutinized line on the financial statements.
